Sharp Drops AQUOS Prices
Price reductions range from $100 off Sharp's 10" LCD set, the LC-10A3U, which has been marked down from $899.95 to $799.95, to a $1500 drop for the company's 30" flagship model, the LC-30HV2U. Originally priced at $6999.95, the LC-30HV2U has been cut to $5499.95. The 22" LC-22SV2U, Sharp's smaller 16:9 screen, has been reduced from $3799.95 to $2999.95, a cut of $800. In addition to line-wide price cuts, Sharp is offering a $100 rebate on 13", 15", and 20" Aquos televisions sold through December 31, 2002. "Aquos LCD sets make great gifts," said Tony Favia, Sharp USA's senior marketing manager for flat-panel TVs. The bold marketing move "should put more flat screens in American homes than ever before," he added. LCD TVs are one of the hottest product niches in the consumer electronics arena.
