LG 50PG60 Plasma TV:
Contrast & Resolution Peak white level
Peak contrast ratio: 1295:1 Overscan
These measurements were taken at the highest power level; lower levels did not reduce black level appreciably. There was a slight diagonal moiré in the high-frequency horizontal and vertical bursts, more in the horizontal than vertical. This was visible via both HDMI and component. I was surprised to find that the 1:1 pixel-mapping mode (Just Scan) cropped a few pixels from the right side of the picture. I've rarely seen this in flat panels with a 1:1 mode.
The THX-mode grayscale tended toward red or green at different brightness levels, which was clearly evident on a stepped grayscale pattern.
After 10-point calibration in Expert mode, the grayscale came much closer to correct across the brightness range, though not quite as perfectly as the LG 47LG60 LCD TV.
As expected from the grayscale results, blue was deficient in the color balance of the THX mode.
The color balance was much better after 10-point calibration.
The color temp of the THX mode had a bit of a sawtooth profile in the lower half of the brightness range, and it tended low, which corresponds to a blue deficiency.
10-point calibration brought the color temp much closer to 6500K, though with a dip at 70 IRE. Color Accuracy
The THX-mode color gamut was a bit oversaturated along the red-green axis, and cyan and magenta were also off. Only blue was on the money.
Expert mode's CMS allowed me to move the color points much closer to their targets, except that red remained slightly oversaturated.
